Having experienced a number of art forms in the last decade I have found my passion within the process and results of Botanical Printing. It has been a revelation, reviving my love of foliage, a connection with the natural commodities used in art.
The procedure involves sandwiching leaves flat within fabric secured to a substrate and steamed within a vat for a number of hours. The leaf is gradually imprinted on the fabric.
I like the outcome of the printing, it is both varied and surprising! It depends enormously on the fabric used, the tannin within the leaves, the dyes and the fixative.
I then work with the finished fabric in a variety of ways
