My life has always been filled with art, creativity and song and I have spent time as an illustrator, Arts worker and twenty years as a Community Choir Leader.  Lock down, in March 2019, necessitated another change of focus and I re-discovered my love of machine sewing. I discovered Free-motion machine embroidery and quilting and soon found that I was able to combine it with my skills as an artist, my love of colour and of the natural world, to produce quilted fabric collages. Fabric collage is like painting with fabric, building up colours and forms using lots of tiny fabric pieces lightly glued to a base material. It is then ‘thread painted’ to add colour and definition and quilted to create texture and a three dimensional effect. I love the fact that there is always something new to discover, learn and develop.
